Admission Process

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  • Applicants are required to login at the portal and register [Portal link]. Once they receive the login ID and password, they are required to fill up the online application with all details
  • Applicants must submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) indicating their career goals and reasons for opting for dual degree in law for undergraduates and Master’s degree for postgraduate. Such SOP should not exceed 500 words.
  • After completing their application form, they are required to pay the requisite application fee and click the submit button after verifying the details. Please note that incomplete applications and/or applications without fee payment will not be processed.
  • All applications are to be submitted online. There is no provision for hard copy submission
  • The following documents are required to fill online application form:
    1. Last available Degree Certificate.
    2. Meghalaya Domicile certificate and Meghalaya ST certificate (if applicable).
    3. Identification card with photograph (issued by the respective Govt.) *Passport, Driving Licence, etc.*
    4. Statement of Purpose (SOP) in minimum 500 words to cover the following:
    5. Career goals
    6. Interest in pursuing the specific programme

APPLICATION FEE

For all applicants, the application fee is Rs. 3500/- [Rupees Three thousand five hundred only] , except for Meghalaya state-domiciled applicants who are required to pay Rs. 2000/- [Rupees Two thousand only] . Payment should be made at the time of application submission through the payment gateways

MODE OF SELECTION

On receipt of applications, the same will be scrutinised. For shortlisting of candidates, the following will be considered:

Undergraduate Programme [BA/BBA/BS LL.B (Hon)]
  • NLU Meg Undergraduate Admission Test [MEG UAT]
  • Interview
For Postgraduate Programme [LL.M and MS]
  • NLU Meg Postgraduate Admission Test [MEG PAT]
  • Interview

The shortlisted candidates from [MEG UAT & MEG PAT] will be intimated through email and are required to appear for the online interviews.

Personal Interview Details (Online)

  • On select dates, the shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the Personal Interview through online mode. The link to the online interview will be emailed to the student one day before the date of the interview. The personal interview assessment will be in two stages:
    1. The final result in the last qualifying degree. Applicants selected for the personal interview must send a scanned copy of the last qualifying degree to the university through email latest by the specified date given by the University to the following email address: admission@nlumeg.ac.in ● Appear online for an interview before the selection board.
  • Students will be marked on the following criteria:
    1. general proficiency and aptitude
    2. communication abilities
    3. Statement of purpose (SoP)
    4. interest to pursue the field, knowledge of the subject (in case of LL.M and MS)

FAQs

  • Q1. What are the minimum eligibility criteria for admission?

    Ans. Please check the eligibility conditions mentioned above.
  • Q2. My final 10+2 results are still not declared. Am I eligible?

    Ans. Yes, you are eligible. However, you are required to submit the results of the Secondary Board Examination.
  • Q3. How do I select the undergraduate domain program [Bachelor of Arts (BA)/ Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)/ Bachelor of Science (BS))?

    Ans. You may give the option while filling up the application form. However, confirmation of the choice of domain shall be given at the end of the first trimester. The first trimester comprises fundamental courses common to all the domains.
  • Q3. Does the University have opportunities for placements?

    Ans. Yes, the University has a Career Development Centre (CDC) to facilitate the students. However, the University does not guarantee placements.
  • Q4. I am a female candidate. Am I required to pay the full application fee?

    Ans. Yes, all candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs. 3500/- at the time of submission of the form. The application fee for state-domiciled tribes is Rs. 2000 /-
  • Q5. I made some mistakes in filling up the application form. Can I change it?

    Ans. While you are not allowed to make changes in the application form once submitted, the scrutiny committee can revert back to you in case the following: the photo is not clear, or the identity card is not uploaded, or the last qualifying degree certificate is not uploaded. You will get one opportunity to submit the same within a timeline of 7 days, failing which the application may be cancelled.
  • Q6. I did not write the Statement of Purpose. Will my application be considered?

    Ans. No
  • Q7. Can I make a change in my choice of cities?

    Ans. While a candidate is not encouraged to change the city of choice, in special circumstances, a request may be made for the same. However, the University does not guarantee that such change will be affected.
  • Q8. What are the topics on which I have to prepare in the Interview phase?

    Ans. The topic will be given on the spot and not declared before the commencement of the interview.
  • Q9. Can I be exempted from paying the application fee?

    Ans. No, except for what is mentioned above, no requests will be entertained for exemption.
