Master of Laws with Major in Criminal Law [LL.M Major in Criminal Law]

Eligibility

  • First Division/class (60% or 6.5 CGPA on 10-point scale) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B/B.L (5 years) program from any recognised National or International University; OR
  • First Division/class (60% or 6.5 in 10-point scale) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B/B.L (3 years) program from any recognised National or International University along with Bachelors’ Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities / Science/ Commerce or equivalent.
If the degree awarding Institute/University does not explicitly mention “First Class”, then the eligibility will be a minimum of 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale.

Master of Science [Public Policy Analytics] / M.S [Public Policy Analytics]

Eligibility

First Division/class (60% or 6.5 CGPA on 10-point scale) in bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, or equivalent qualification with exposure to Mathematics and Programming from any recognised National or International University; The Undergraduate degree should be a four-year programme.

General Conditions

The CGPA will not be converted into percentage marks if the degree-awarding Institute/University provides marks in the CGPA system. Then, the admission will be based on the CGPA awarded in the transcript. If the CGPA is on a different scale other than 10, the eligibility of the candidate will be calculated corresponding to the equivalence.

Those appearing in the final examination of the last qualifying degree are eligible to apply. In such cases, they must attach proof of CGPA till the last semester.

Application Procedure

  • Applicants are required to login at the portal and register [www.nlumeg.ac.in]. Once they receive the login ID and password, they are required to fill up the Online Application with all details.
  • Applicants must submit a Statement of Purpose (SoP) indicating their career goals and reasons for opting for a master's degree. Such SoP should not exceed 500 words.
  • After completing their Application form, they are required to pay the requisite Application fee and click on the submit button after verifying the details. Please note that incomplete applications and/or applications without fee payment will not be processed.
  • All applications are to be submitted Online. There is no provision for hard copy submission.
  • The following documents are required to be filled through an Online Application Form:
    1. Last available Degree Certificate.
    2. Meghalaya Domicile Certificate and Meghalaya ST Certificate (if applicable).
    3. Identification Card with Photograph (issued by the respective Govt.) [ e.g. Passport, Driving Licence, etc.]
    4. Statement of Purpose (SoP) in minimum 500 words to cover the following:
      1. Career goals
      2. Interest in pursuing the specific programme

Application Fee

For all applicants, the Application Fee is Rs. 3,500/- [Rupees Three thousand five hundred only], except for Meghalaya state-domiciled Scheduled Tribes (ST) who are required to pay Rs. 2,000/- [Rupees Two thousand only]. Payment should be made at the time of Application Submission through the payment gateways.

Mode of Selection

On receipt of applications, the same will be scrutinised. For shortlisting of candidates, the following will be considered:

  • NLU Meg Postgraduate Admission Test [MEG PAT]
  • Personal Interview
The shortlisted candidates from [MEG PAT] will be intimated through email and are required to appear for Online Interviews.

Personal Interview Details (Online)

  • On select dates, the shortlisted candidates are required to appear for the Personal Interview through Online Mode. The link to the Online Interview will be emailed to the student one day before the date of the interview. The personal interview assessment will be in two stages:
    1. The final result in the last qualifying degree. Applicants selected for the personal interview must send a scanned copy of the last qualifying degree to the University through email latest by 16th April 2024 (5 PM) to the following email address: admission@nlumeg.ac.in
    2. Appear Online for an interview before the Selection Board.
  • Students will be marked on the following criteria:
    1. General Proficiency and Aptitude
    2. Communication Abilities
    3. Statement of Purpose (SoP)
    4. Interest to pursue the field, knowledge of the subject (in case of LL.M and M.S)

The final list of candidates will be declared based on the performance in the final round and number of available seats.

  • It may be noted that candidates who are waiting for certificates of the final qualifying degree will be given an extended period of 15 days (not exceeding June 25, 2024) to submit/send their degree certificate to the University.

  • First Division/class (60% or 6.5 CGPA on 10-point scale) in Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Technology, Statistics, Mathematics, Science, or equivalent qualification with exposure to Mathematics and Programming from any recognised National or International University; The Undergraduate program should have a minimum duration of four years OR a 3 year B.Sc. with 2-year M.Sc. with a minimum of First Division/class (60% or 6.5 CGPA on 10-point scale in both degrees) OR equivalent are eligible to apply.

Any decision made by the University is final and binding.

  • Those appearing in the final examination of the last qualifying degree are eligible to apply. In such cases, they must attach proof of CGPA till the last Semester.

  • Work experience may be recommended but is not always mandatory. Some programs may consider internships or relevant research experiences.
